Writing a book is not a cheap endeavor for an author. Marketing compounds those costs even more. Piracy and unauthorized distribution of books increases both these costs for writers and readers alike, which none of us need in the current economic environment as we all are feeling the pinch of inflation and other rising costs after the pandemic. Please also keep in mind I am an indie author which means no one other than me is bearing these increased costs to publish.
I offer several options to help readers having financial difficulties to read my books if they’d like to do so via ARC team sign ups, newsletter subscriber specials, special sales, reading via legitimate subscription platforms, and finding my book at libraries.
Unfortunately, I am not using Kindle Unlimited specifically due to piracy risking my ability to honor their terms of a book being exclusive to their platform. I don’t want to lose my rights to publish with KDP due to someone else’s bad behavior.
